Conveyor belt idlers

We manufacture conveyor idlers in our own workshop – from smaller diameters, through the most common Ø 89 mm (shaft Ø 20 mm, 14 mm across flats), to larger diameters – and supply idlers in all standard sizes to DIN 15207 / ISO 1537 and to the customer's drawing. Along with the idlers we supply idler frames and self-aligning sets, and when replacing a belt we also replace worn idlers. Rubber conveyor belts →

Types of idlers

  • standard (carrying and return) idlers

  • impact idlers with rubber rings – for the loading zone, where material falls onto the belt; the rings absorb impacts and protect the belt and the idler

  • return idlers with rubber rings – less build-up of sticky material on the return run

  • self-cleaning spiral idlers (rubber or steel spiral) – for very sticky materials

  • side (guide) rollers – limit lateral belt drift

  • other versions to order

Idler frames

  • flat and troughed frames 20° / 30° / 35° / 45°

  • flat and "V" return frames

  • self-aligning idler sets

Construction

  • shell made of welded tube, seamless on request

  • shaft of cold-drawn steel, tolerance h6

  • C3 ball bearings, series 6204, 6205 and 6206, heavier series 6305 and 6308 to order

  • multiple labyrinth seals against dust and water

  • various shell diameters, depending on series and belt width

How to order an idler

Send us the idler type, shell diameter, shell length, shaft diameter and width across flats – e.g. "OV 89 · 380 · 20 · e14". For impact and return idlers, also state the outer diameter of the ring. If you do not know the dimensions, measure the distance between the shaft flats (= shell length + 8 mm) or send a photo and the belt width. Non-standard idlers require a drawing.

FAQ

Which idler diameter do I need?

It depends on the belt width and speed and the weight of the material. For a 500 mm belt at up to 2 m/s, Ø 89 mm is the most common; wider and faster belts need larger diameters. Send us the belt width and speed and we will propose a diameter.

How do I measure an idler?

Measure the shell diameter, the shell length, the distance between the flat ends of the shaft (flats) and the shaft diameter.

Do you also replace idlers when replacing a belt?

Yes – in the same job we can replace idlers, cleaners and skirt rubber and lag the pulleys.

Need idlers?

Send us the idler type and dimensions or the belt width – we will get back to you with a quote.
