Abrasion-resistant rubber conveyor belts

The abrasion-resistant rubber belt is the most widely used conveyor belt in industry. It is designed to convey bulk and abrasive materials – stone, gravel, sand, cement, clinker, asphalt and recycled material. The belts are manufactured to DIN 22102. We keep the most common sizes in stock and source the rest at short notice.

Applications

  • quarries, gravel pits and screening plants

  • cement, lime and concrete plants

  • asphalt plants and road milling machines

  • mobile crushing and screening plants

  • mines and salt works

  • recycling yards, composting and waste treatment plants

  • power generation, heating plants and incinerators

  • steel mills, foundries and metal industry

  • chemical industry and fertiliser production

  • sawmills and wood industry (chips, sawdust)

  • agriculture – grain, beet, potatoes, fertilisers

  • food industry, sugar factories and mills

  • ports, silos and bulk storage

  • mineral wool, glass and ceramics industry

  • logistics and packaging

Belt construction

The belt consists of a load-bearing carcass of synthetic fabric plies with a top and bottom rubber cover.

  • EP carcass – polyester (warp) and polyamide (weft) plies; strong, low elongation, resistant to moisture and rot.

  • Number of plies – usually 2 to 4, depending on the load.

  • Rubber covers – thicker top (carrying) cover, thinner bottom cover.

  • Edges – cut or moulded rubber edges.

How to read the belt designation – example EP 400/3 4+2 Y

  • EP – fabric type (polyester/polyamide)

  • 400 – breaking strength of the belt in N/mm of width

  • /3 – number of plies

  • 4+2 – top and bottom cover thickness in mm

  • Y – rubber cover grade

Cover grades

  • N – lighter operating conditions

  • Y – general purpose, normally abrasive materials

  • X – heavy duty – impact, coarse and sharp material

  • W – highly abrasive materials

We supply belts in all cover grades. For extremely abrasive and sharp material (glass, scrap metal, FGD gypsum) we also supply belts with a specially resistant cover.

Abrasion-resistant belts operate from –20 to +80 °C. For hotter materials, heat-resistant belts are used. Heat-resistant belts →

Constructions

We offer belts from lighter two-ply to heavy four-ply constructions, with thinner or thicker covers – according to load and material.

Antistatic and self-extinguishing versions for use in ATEX zones (explosion-hazard areas) are available on request.

Sizes and availability

  • We keep the most common sizes in stock and source the rest at short notice.

  • On request: widths 400 – 2000 mm (wider on enquiry), strengths from EP 200 to EP 1000 and higher, all cover grades and thicknesses.

  • We cut belts to length, to the required length and width.

Installation and splicing

We deliver and install the belt on site. We make all types of splices – hot vulcanising (with a press), cold vulcanising (bonding) and mechanical fasteners – depending on the belt and operating conditions. Conveyor belt vulcanising and splicing →

How to request a quote

Send us:

  • belt width and length (or pulley centre distance)

  • designation of the existing belt (usually printed on the belt)

  • type of material and approximate temperature

  • whether installation / splicing is required

FAQ

Which belt for a quarry?

For most applications EP 400/3 4+2 Y is sufficient. For coarse, sharp material or high drop heights, a thicker top cover or grade X is recommended.

Can I buy just a few metres?

Yes, we cut belts to length.

What is the delivery time?

Sizes in stock are available immediately; the rest we source at short notice.

Do you also splice belts?

Yes – all types of splices: hot and cold vulcanising and mechanical fasteners, on site and in our workshop.

Need an abrasion-resistant belt?

Send us the width, length and belt designation – we will get back to you with a quote.
